Tom
Orr, CEO
As
NextBend's resident visionary and evangelist, Orr is charged with
carrying out NextBend's mission to create a reliable, expandable,
and affordable platform for the convergence of all things digital.
A
successful serial entrepreneur, Orr founded NextBend in 1995 to develop
the intellectual property, concepts and trademarks that are NextBend's
core. In 1999 he sold optical related patents and trademarks to Cornings's
Serengeti Eyewear, the proceeds provided early funding for NextBend.
Orr
developed one of the audio industry's first efficiency compensated
A_B speaker comparitors while leading the Consumer Electronics and
New Products Divisions of Electronic Equipment Company. His design,
still in use today, allows audiophiles to use a handheld switch to
compare any two pairs of speakers at the same audio level.
Orr
studied architecture, electronics and philosophy. His rich and varied
career path has included stints as a Warner Productions recording
engineer, a radio disc jockey, an optician, a stage director and an
owner, trainer and breeder of Arabian horses.
A
past president of the Tampa Bay Inventors Council, Orr is also a charter
member of the Tampa Bay Technology Forum and the Internet Business
Association's Certification Committee. He continues to donate time
and effort helping inventors and entrepreneurs.

pagers, wireless telephones, and networks.
Hewitt's
work defining protocols, developing applications, and understanding
of the Network Economy; together with successes in software design,
cellular and trunked radio systems, IP telephony and switching, gives
him the tools to assist NextBend in optimizing and developing its
